BHOPAL MEMORIAL NOTE:

The memorial is a water purification plant drawing contaminated water from the site through a grid network of deep bore-wells and channelized through a series of large water tanks. Successive tanks gradually strip heavy metal and VOC pollutants to eventually give pure water in the final tank. The pavilion is anchored amidst this mass of pure water; sitting in stoic silence, traces of its disastrous industrial past peering from the concrete floor, wrapped in a white tensile roof: a cenotaph for all the gas victims. Part of the site is also a solar farm, making the memorial self sustained in its power requirement.
